Paper Abstract
This study was carried out in KahramanmaraşSütçü İmam University, Faculty of Agriculture, Field Crops experimental field in order to determine the effects of the mixing ratios of fodder pea and triticale (25%, 50% and 75%) on hay yield and quality. The field experiment was carried out according to the randomized blocks trial design with three replications during the 2021-2022 vegetation period. Aysehanım triticale (xTriticosecaleWittmack) and Taskent of fodder pea (Pisum arvense L.) cultivars was used as crop material.
As a result of the research, it was determined that the plant height of fodder pea and triticale were ranger from 95.81-109.05 cm, and 87.33-101.39 cm, respectively. Total fresh forage yield was 2404.00-4292.12 kg/da, total dry forage yield was 491.13-1336.45 kg/da, crude protein contentwere %9.55-17.86 and crude protein yield were 87.84-163.13 kg/da. The Relative Feed Value (RFV)values changed between 99.40 and141.65.
It was concluded that growing fodder pea in mixture with triticale is more suitable in terms of yield and quality than growing alone. As a result of the examined characteristics, it was determined that the most suitable mixture ratio in terms of grass yield and quality was 75% triticale + 25% fodder pea. It is recommended to apply this mixture ratio for Kahramanmaras province and similar ecological conditions.
